What to do with that Extra Room
Do you need that room or do you have free reign?
There are many people who need their spare room whether it’s for a home office or a place for frequent guests to rest their head for the night. However, for those of you that have an extra room and have no idea what to do with it, here are a few.
1. Morning/Meditation Room: Whether you decide to make this a dark and cozy office or a light and bright space for yoga, a room for meditation and self-reflection is always a good idea.
2. Art Studio: A fabulous room full of easels and inspiration can be the best addition to the artistic spirit’s home! A table with a built-in sewing machine and dress forms along with storage for art supplies and bolts of fabric will step your studio up to the next level.
3. Reading Room: Get those walls set with built in bookshelves and a fire place and you have created a space that enviable by bookworms everywhere.
4. Private Bar: This is best suited for a large closet or a small room, and one with drainage and a sink is best. Pour drinks like the pros in your own home while being able to close the doors and keep it out of sight as well.
5. Music Room: Musicians and parents of musicians know how much stuff can accumulate when you play one or more instruments. Music stands, shelves full of sheet music, speakers and amplifiers can take up space. Add rugs for the ground and fabric to the walls and ceiling to help with buffering the sound to those outside the room.
6. Garden Room: The idea of a garden room is one that doesn’t pop into one’s head right away, but for the avid gardener it’s perfect! An indoor place to store sheers and trowels, that has a large sink and counter space for preparing bouquets and cleaning veggies to prevent too much dirt in the kitchen.
7. Kids Play Room: A more common option for a spare room, especially for grandparents excited for generations to come visit!
8. Game Room: Adults can enjoy a game room in the home as well. Swap out the blocks for poker chips and go for a felt poker table or billiards table.
9. Home Gym: Another common idea for the spare room. When you don’t want to hang around the annoying folks at your local gym and using equipment that strangers have sweat all over, stay home and work on your fitness in comfort!
10. Trophy Room: Whether you want to display your favorite sports memorabilia or you want to display your own accomplishments, this can be a fun addition to your house and a great thing to show your house guests.
11. Home Theater: What better room for the movie loving couple, or the family that enjoys spending their Saturday nights in together, or the young married couple hosting couples night! Jack up your room with stadium stairs and the coziest reclining chairs, a popcorn machine and a wall-to-wall viewing screen.
