Veterans Create Winning Photography Piece

Local veterans have put together an award-winning collage of their best photography. They unveiled the collage at the Veteran’s Hospital on Jan. 23rd. The piece is called “Proud to be Reno”. It’s made up of 66 photos taken by about 2 dozen veterans in the VA Photography Group.

The photography collage shows how the veterans feel about their community.

The collage display won first prize at the Creative Arts Festival last year. They almost didn’t make the deadline, but the group pulled through at the end. Between each of their personalities and unique styles they managed to create something collaborative with a combined look on the Reno community from their eyes. “Proud to be Reno” is on display in front of the pharmacy at the hospital. So winning the award gave some of the group members encouragement to enter the festival next year on their own.

The VA is one of the largest health care systems in the world and provides training for most of America’s medical, nursing, and allied health workers. The VA has impatient and outpatient clinics, and other services to help a diverse Veteran population. So they obtain on-going medical research and innovation to improve the lives of the U.S.’s patriots.
