Urban Market Convenience Store Will Open Downtown
Written By: Farah Vitale
The Urban Market will be opening this Spring, bringing quick meals, and fresh produce to Reno. The store will be opening up on the ground floor of the new 3rd Street Flats apartments. The owners, Denise and Dale Barcomb have run 7-Eleven franchises for 16 years. They’ve had one in Carson City for six years. With the Urban Market, they will be creating a more “upscale experience” with healthy options and modern interior design.
Urban Market is another way Reno expands business downtown and healthy eating.
The store will be 2,700-square-feet and will have both non-perishable food and fresh, organic produce, local coffee barista, and easy to make meals. The store will mainly serve those staying in the 3rd Street Flats but it’s open to the public as well. Reno is continuing to expand it’s availability of fresh and healthy food options. There is more of a demand for healthier versions of meals and snacks so Reno is catering to the demands. Downtown and Midtown are booming with healthy places to eat.
Downtown Reno has also been in demand for a big grocery store. People living in downtown Reno still don’t have a large grocery store that beats out the competition for all their everyday needs. Those living downtown will usually shop at the stores on Keystone Avenue, Mayberry Drive and Second Street. They would love something in walking distance, and although it’s not as big as Savemart, Urban Market is coming at a great time.
