In 2015, the average student loan debit for a Nevadan was just over $23,000. However, for the graduating class of 2018 a free admission
to college maybe in their future.

Nevada Promise Scholarship

As apart of a “last dollar program” this scholarship is not based of off academic performance rather if it fills in the “gap” financial aid could not cover. This could mean that eligible students could earn degrees at Truckee Meadows Community College for free.

The scholarship will hopefully promote more Nevada residents to purse a degree but also promote community service within the community as requirement for the award. Other requirements to become eligible for the scholarship includes individuals to be 20 or younger, mandatory mentoring, and taking at least 12 credits per semester.

Applications for the Nevada Promise Scholarship can be turned from August-October 31st.  While the twenty hours of community service must be completed by April 2018.
