Reno Retail Therapy

It’s no surprise that Reno has been steadily growing in the last few years. The number of retail shops, restaurants, and neighborhoods have all recently been on the rise. Older buildings are being revived and vacant spaces are being filled; specifically in the downtown area.

Downtown Reno is finally getting the recognition that it so badly deserves. It’s currently receiving a makeover that it has desperately needed for twenty years or more. The center and heart of Reno are only a quick fifteen minutes away from us.  Take a trip into the heart of the city where you’ll be able to experience today’s Reno, mixed with historical Reno.

It’s going down, and it’s going down in The Basement.

The Basement is exactly what its name says it is: the basement of Reno’s original post office built in 1934 located at 50 S. Virginia St.

The Basement houses several vendors. A boutique chocolate shop, a healthy juice bar and a gentleman’s barber shop are only a few. There are plans for a handful of vendors to still arrive.

It doesn’t hurt that in August, West Elm will be opening its doors as the 12,000 sq. ft. main floor of the historic post office, one floor above The Basement. It’s the first major retailer to go into downtown in three decades. West Elm is a Williams-Sonoma furniture brand that sells contemporary, artisanal furniture. Their high-end furniture is truly exceptional.
