Secrets to a Happy Retirement
Retiring can be exciting and nerve-wracking… keep it happy!
You have waited for retirement for so many years, but sometimes it is not the easiest transition for everyone. There are so many variables and moving parts, even if it’s just adjusting to life with more free time, that making sure you remain happy can seem like a no-brainer. Mass Mutual’s Elaine Sarsynski gives her three secrets to maximizing happiness after retirement.
Have a plan
Retirement can be the most exciting time in a person’s life, but the risk of your nest-egg running out can be a looming threat, so it is important to have a plan. Talk to your financial adviser or your CPA and ask them what the best plan for your retirement is based on your current income and retirement plan as well as your dependents and the age you plan on retiring.
Reestablish relationships
When you retire, it is important to reestablish your social relationships as you have more free time. Travel with your spouse, play golf on Tuesdays, find ways to interact with your friends you may have lost touch with throughout the years of working hard.
Be a savvy saver
You worked so hard for so many years and saved money so that you could enjoy your retirement stress-free, do not waste it. If you are concerned about your nest-egg running out, make sure you keep saving your money by finding savvy ways around spending. Some people volunteer at places they spend money on expensive hobbies (i.e golf course, theater) so that they may enjoy the perks. Whichever way you go about saving money, it is important to be conscious of how much of your retirement funds you can be spending without fear of running out.
Move to Montrêux!
Although Montreux is not a retirement community, it is a great place to retire and makes use of the three secrets to a happy retirement! The welcoming, yet private, nature of our community is evident driving down the road as passersby wave and golf carts play through. Neighbors catch up over 18 holes of golf, or while dining in the gorgeous Clubhouse. Whether you are a golf aficionado, one who loves the peacefulness of snowshoeing, or just enjoy relaxing and enjoying the views, Montrêux is where you should retire.
