Reno Events Return in 2021

Fast forward about a year from when the COVID-19 pandemic started, and many of the special events that were canceled last year are on their way back to Reno-Tahoe this year. We are so excited to enjoy time with our friends, family, and neighbors as we can gather again in large numbers safely. This is what we know so far about the upcoming year, however things may change so be sure to check event websites before planning your activities.

Hot August Nights

The Biggest Little City shifts into high gear for Hot August Nights as thousands of visitors pay tribute to the exquisitely powerful automobiles and electrifying music of the ‘50s, ‘60s, ‘70s and early ‘80s. Considered one of the world’s premier classic car events, more than 5,000 vehicles from this golden era of design are showcased with activities all over Reno and Sparks during Hot August Nights. Restored hot rods and sexy muscle cars give enthusiasts a first-hand experience of popular decades gone by.

Great Reno Balloon Race

Soaring high above the Reno skyline, upwards of 80+ beautiful hot-air balloons take flight. It has been one of Reno’s most colorful and spectacular events for over three decades and is located just 2 miles from downtown Reno! Sure, it might be a bit earlier than you’re used to, but it’s worth the wake! The Great Reno Balloon Race is free to the public and spectators have the ability to explore balloons up close on the field.

Reno Air Races

Over 50 years ago, the first plane went up in the Nevada desert to kick off what would become the STIHL National Championship Air Races and a legacy was born. A legacy of history, heritage and preservation. Of daring, imagination and wonder. Of memories made, traditions formed and legends created one amazing race at a time. Engines roaring. Crowds cheering. Hearts pounding. This is the fastest motorsport on Earth – a one-of-a-kind thrill you have to see, hear and feel to believe. This is classic, cool and contemporary all rolled into one. This is life at 500 miles per hour. This is the STIHL National Championship Air Races. The 2021 STIHL National Championship Air Races will be held September 15-19.
