Reno Events Return in 2021

Fast forward about a year from when the COVID-19 pandemic started, and many of the special events that were canceled last year are on their way back to Reno-Tahoe this year. We are so excited to enjoy time with our friends, family, and neighbors as we can gather again in large numbers safely. This is what we know so far about the upcoming year, however things may change so be sure to check event websites before planning your activities.

Reno Aces Baseball

The Reno Aces are a Minor League Baseball team of the Triple-A West and the Triple-A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks. They are located in Reno, Nevada, and play their home games at Greater Nevada Field, which opened in 2009.

The Reno River Festival

The Reno River Festival returns June 12-13 with a celebration of all things local. The heart of downtown Reno will transform into an outdoor destination featuring local craft beer, local food, local craft vendors, and local musical acts. Riverfest will look a little different this year, but it is packed with all things summer for one unforgettable weekend.

The Reno Rodeo

The “Wildest, Richest Rodeo in the West,” the Reno Rodeo is celebrating 102 years of wild west family fun. Our 10-day rodeo has stretched into 11 with the addition of a kick-off concert sponsored by KBUL Radio. The Reno Rodeo is a PRCA (Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association) sanctioned sporting event and is a non-profit organization made up of over 900+ volunteers.

For the entire month of July, Reno is Artown! The National Endowment for the Arts regards it as one of the most comprehensive arts festivals in the country. This inaugural festival features over 500 multidisciplinary activities including music, dance, theater, visual arts, workshops, art walks and much more.  Offering a majority of events free to the public, Artown combines world-renowned artists with Reno’s own local talent.

The Reno Chalk Art and Music Festival

Reno’s fastest growing art event is back and bigger than ever! Artists of all skills levels are invited to participate in this fun-filled celebration of art, music and life. Join us at the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa for an event that will also feature local arts and craft vendors, a variety of food and drinks, live music and much more! You can count on the Atlantis to follow the latest health mandates for a safe and chalk-tastic experience!

Night in the Country

Away from the big city lights, Night in the Country experience transforms the quiet farming town of Yerington, Nevada into one of the largest camping parties in the world.

Hot August Nights

The Biggest Little City shifts into high gear for Hot August Nights as thousands of visitors pay tribute to the exquisitely powerful automobiles and electrifying music of the ‘50s, ‘60s, ‘70s and early ‘80s. Considered one of the world’s premier classic car events, more than 5,000 vehicles from this golden era of design are showcased with activities all over Reno and Sparks during Hot August Nights. Restored hot rods and sexy muscle cars give enthusiasts a first-hand experience of popular decades gone by.

Great Reno Balloon Race

Soaring high above the Reno skyline, upwards of 80+ beautiful hot-air balloons take flight. It has been one of Reno’s most colorful and spectacular events for over three decades and is located just 2 miles from downtown Reno! Sure, it might be a bit earlier than you’re used to, but it’s worth the wake! The Great Reno Balloon Race is free to the public and spectators have the ability to explore balloons up close on the field.

Reno Air Races

Over 50 years ago, the first plane went up in the Nevada desert to kick off what would become the STIHL National Championship Air Races and a legacy was born. A legacy of history, heritage and preservation. Of daring, imagination and wonder. Of memories made, traditions formed and legends created one amazing race at a time. Engines roaring. Crowds cheering. Hearts pounding. This is the fastest motorsport on Earth – a one-of-a-kind thrill you have to see, hear and feel to believe. This is classic, cool and contemporary all rolled into one. This is life at 500 miles per hour. This is the STIHL National Championship Air Races. The 2021 STIHL National Championship Air Races will be held September 15-19.
