National Geographic Names Reno One of the Best Cities
Written By: Farah Vitale
The National Geographic has named Reno one of the best cities in the United States! The magazine paired up with Resonance Consultancy, a global destination branding adviser, ranking best U.S. cities by factors that lead to happiness. The metrics used were: green spaces, galleries, coffee shops, breweries, music venues, Instagram worthy moments, etc.
National Geographic has found the top 30 small cities in the country and Reno made the cut.
To make the decision on who to pick, they sorted U.S. cities into three groups based on their population: 40K-100K, 100K-200K, and 200K-600K. Next, Resonance combined the core statistics with social media data on nightlife, culture, restaurants, and others. From that they found top scores in specific categories including which cities have the most steakhouses and deli’s and which is the greenest (most parkland).
We’ve mentioned before that Reno has become it’s own foodie capitol and that was a huge factor for making the list. There are many butchers, deli’s, and steakhouses to enjoy. The restaurants, such as Harrah’s Steak House, have modern renovations and cool dishes like Oyster Rockafella. The midtown area is also full of exciting places to try. The Eddy is a popular outdoor beer garden with synthetic-turf lawn and food trucks. Reno is original in the food and drink scene with unique places like Nothing To It! cooking school/gourmet deli and Wedge Cheese Shop.
