Crafted Palette Combines Art and Recyling

Written By: Farah Vitale

Recycling art is the new trend! Crafted Palette, a local business that lets customers paint while they sip on wine or coffee, had a great idea. The shop ended up having a ton of leftover canvases of art. So they came up the idea to cut up the old canvases and turn them into cool collages. This cuts down on waste by recycling and also allows a new way to create different art.

Now Crafted Palette has an event called “Upcycle Collaging.”

On April 26th, the first Upcycle Collage event will be held. Until then, Crafted Palette holds regular classes multiple times a week. The classes have many fun paintings to try and the class prices range from $25 to $35. They also have “family day” classes that are great for joining the family together with paintings kids can even try. There are a variety of artists that instruct the classes. So grab a drink and let your creative spirit flow!

The owner, Gail Knight, was inspired to open Crafted Palette after attending her first painting party. There, she realized she didn’t have to be born with a natural talent to be an artist. Painting is a skill that many can have with practice and Knight realized what an amazing experience this was. She decided to develop a spot in the heart of Downtown Reno that provides people with excellent coffee, food, art and music. Her children, Felicia, Josiah, and Melanie helped make the dream possible. Each of them provided their own skill to add to the store.
