Barracuda Championship Gives a Generous Donation to Sky Tavern
Thanks to the 18th annual Barracuda Championship, Sky Tavern received a $25,000 donation.
The generous donation was made on behalf of Greg Chalmers, the 2016 Barracuda Champion, to help with equipment, construction, much-needed improvements and a portion of their budget for next year.
Sky Tavern is a non-profit organization that thrives off of donations and volunteers. It has been helping to teach Reno/Lake Tahoe-area kids to ski and snowboard since 1948. It offers summer programs and recreation as well.
Many Nevadans refer to it as a tradition and are thrilled by the Barracuda Championship’s generosity. Sky Tavern’s goal is to stay alive in the community, and to grow local children into amazing adults with the help of the great outdoors.
It was selected as the winner of the Barracuda Championship’s Charity Facebook Contest after receiving an astounding 11,000 votes. It was one winner among 27 local non-profit organizations sponsored by the championship. Sky Tavern worked hard to win the contest and is appreciative to the community for contributing to their success.
The Barracuda Championship took place from June 27 – July 3 at Montreux Golf & Country Club. In the last 18 years, it has donated more than $3.2 million to local charities including Northern Nevada Children’s Cancer Foundation and the Food Bank of Northern Nevada.
