April is for the Arts!
This month, the fine arts are taking over Reno. There are so many great events coming to the biggest little city in the world, so we thought we would make sure you would not miss them! As art is an expression or creation of a beautiful thing(s), it would only be right to show off local artists’ work.
An ongoing event, Art Walk Reno, happens to do just so. This event resumes on Thursday, April 7th, 2016. From 5-8pm, make sure to stop by this great event hosted by the Nevada Museum of Art. General admission is $5. Worth it! This includes a raffle ticket and program for the evening. For $10 you can add an Art Spot glass, and for $15 a limited edition hand painted glass from a local artist. Tickets are also available at Art Indeed! (142 Bell Street).
Another event on April 7th is First Thursday. This event is held at the Nevada Museum of Art from 5-7pm. General admission costs $10, or is free with a membership. Grab a drink, dance to the live music, and fall in love with the art. The first event is sponsored by Barrick Gold of North America, the wine bar is sponsored by 1864 Tavern, hosted by The X 100.1 FM Radio and Great Basin Brewing Company. The entertainment will be provided by the Mark Mackay Band.
The walk begins at West Street Market, located at 148 West Street in downtown Reno. You will be able to see local and regional artists on display in venues within the Arts District, between Liberty St. and Second St., and Virginia St. and Arlington Ave. But art is not the only thing that will be on display during this amazing art walk. There will be food and drink specials along the way at participating vendors. As well as the chance to win a $200 voucher towards any piece of art work shown in the walk!
The next exciting event happening this month is the 4th Street Victory Way Block Party. This event will be held on Saturday, April 23rd, 2016, from 11am-6pm. The party is being held to celebrate the vision of Reno’s emerging 4th Street brewery arts district. It is a chance to get to tour the local businesses, learn the history of the past “Victory Way” district and see what is in store for the future. The event is free and is open to all ages. With all of these great events happening this month, be sure to check them out and support Reno’s amazing arts and culture.
