Top Kitchen Design Trends of 2015
Fresh kitchens are the wave of the future so use these 7 trends to improve the look of your current space.
Whether you are building your custom dream home or just wanting to remodel and spruce up your existing space, use these 7 design tips and tricks for making your space sophisticated and functional.
1. Wooden Cabinets: Designers are embracing all different shades of wood when it comes to cabinetry depending on what the kitchen vibes are and what the color palette of the rest of the space is. For instance, cherry wood goes well with warm-hued hardware.
2. Clean White Cabinets: White is the hot new neutral tone that makes perfect sense in the kitchen due to it’s lack of fuss. This look is especially strong when paired with appliances that seamlessly blend in.
3. Gray or Metallic Cabinets: Gray is not a very new trend when it comes to interior design, but it is definitely a refreshing one, even still. Gray is still extremely trendy with designers because it is a fresh option as opposed to the various beige tones that have been popular the last few decades. To add some spice to the gray, opt for a metallic surface instead of flat or glossy. Metallic’s are a very trendy option for 2015 and can easily be incorporated into any style home.
4. Oil-Rubbed Bronze Hardware: Though stainless steel is still very much in the back pocket of every designer, it can easily be traded out for a more modern option: oil-rubbed bronze. Oil-rubbed bronze is trendy, but not so trendy that you’ll need to swap it out when the trend dies. This one is a classic choice and it happens to pair well with the color Marsala, Pantone’s 2015 color of the year!
5. Warm-hued Metal Hardware: Warmth in the kitchen is extremely inviting, and there are some easy ways to add warmth and dimension to your kitchen. Warm-hued metals such as copper, brass or rose gold can create a warm glow within your kitchen that can really transform the space. For those that are a bit more bold, pair the warm metals with cool metals for a sophisticated and interesting look, such as copper and chrome.
6. White or Colored Sinks: When embracing the above trends, it can be intimidating to try new design choices when your kitchen circles around a stainless steal sink. Now you don’t have to worry, change up your sink! White farmhouse-style sinks are gaining in popularity for their look of sophistication as well as the overall functionality. For a fun and subtle touch, go for a colored sink in a minimalist kitchen!
7. Open Floor Plan: Here in Parc Forêt at Montrêux, we have based our homes around a great room concept, which allows people in the kitchen to be a part of what’s going on in the great room and vice versa. This really opens up the space and has become increasingly more popular due to the functionality for those with families and/or those that enjoy entertaining guests.
