7 Reasons Reno Is the Ultimate Place for Work and Play
The secret about Northern Nevada is out – not only is it one of eight states with no income tax, but it’s the ultimate place for work and play. Many people are falling in love with Reno for its tight community and plethora of activities to satiate any interest. Here at Parc Forêt, we’ve been building our community since 2013 and we wanted to share all the reasons why we love where we live.
The Business Climate
California is the world’s fifth largest economy and boasts $3.2 trillion in gross state product. Nevada-based companies enjoy reduced shipping and storage costs, plus life in Nevada comes without the disadvantages of California living. Many residents are tired of the air pollution, gridlock traffic, extensive commutes, ridiculous property prices and taxes, and an ever-growing list of regulations. Nevada has been consistently ranked by Money and Forbes as one of the best overall business climates in the nation coupled with one of the lowest tax burdens in the country. Businesses will also benefit from competitive utility rates for commercial buildings and low start-up costs. There are reasonable regulatory, licensing, and annual fees to make doing business more lucrative.
Travel Hub of the West
Life in Northern Nevada is far from isolated. The Reno-Tahoe International Airport provides national and international shipping and personal travel, as well as twenty-two non-stop flights and routes to make non-traditional living and working conditions easier. Living in Reno, but working in Denver? You can be at your destination in nearly two hours flat. The airport provides quick access and carries major airlines Delta, American, Southwest, United, and more.
A Dynamic City
Reno has developed far past its gambling reputation and is now full of excellent restaurants, exciting events, local art, and small businesses to explore. The metro area of Reno, and now Sparks, now has many large companies like Clear Capital, NOW Foods, OnTrac, Microsoft, Patagonia, Intuit and others. Outside the city limits you’ll find Switch, Apple, Tesla, and Panasonic at the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center (TRIC). As these companies have filled the new jobs and brought in employees from out of the area, the new residents have brought a fresh energy to the area and add diversity to the region. The Resonance Consultancy has selected Reno has the No. 1 Small City in America for 2020.
Outdoor Activities That Can’t Be Beat
Northern Nevada is sunny and beautiful around 300 days out of the year, every year. Maybe that’s why the region is home to world-class ski resorts, championship golf, and Lake Tahoe’s haven of recreation. Any and every activity exists here, from dog parks to hiking and mountain biking trails, to boating on the crystal-clear Lake Tahoe. You can find yourself in the beautiful tall pine trees happening upon alpine lakes and scenic vistas, or you can find yourself in the rolling hills where the wild horses like to roam. Either way, there are a myriad of activities to explore in every season.
Friendly Neighbors
Reno has humble roots and there’s a reason it has the infamous title of “The Biggest Little City” – because the city has the amenities to keep most people happy while still feeling like you know your neighbor. Here in Northern Nevada, there is a friendly vibe found in the culture that resonates throughout the region. Especially here in the Montrêux community, with both members of the Club and residents in the neighborhood. The people here care about one another and take care of each other. This has been reinforced even more so this year with the pandemic, as many neighbors have come together to help out those sheltering in place or who need an extra hand.
Tax Free Living
Nevada residents enjoy no personal income tax, low property taxes, no corporate income tax, no tax on corporate shares issued while living in Nevada, no tax on sale or transfer of shares, and no inheritance tax. If these individual tax breaks aren’t convincing enough, there are even more tax break incentives for business owners looking to relocate! The Governor’s Office of Economic Development of the State of Nevada offers such incentives from sales tax abatement to modified business tax abatement, and even outside the realm of taxes. Incentives carry over into employee hiring and training as well.
