Wild Sheep Foundation Holds Convention
Written By: Farah Vitale
Reno’s Wild Sheep Foundation (WSF) will be holding their 40th Annual Convention and Sporting Expo. “The Sheep Show” is the largest conservation and mountain hunting event in the U.S. There will be hundreds of exhibits of guides and outfitters, entertainers and educational events, as well as online and silent auctions. This year will be even bigger and better than before. The auctions will offer more than $6 million in hunts, trips, art, firearms and equipment. It has more special conservation permits than any other convention or wildlife show.
Sheep Week is great for the whole family and full of seminars and events!
There will be raffles for hunting gear, sheep and other hunts. The seminars are given by experts on mountain hunting in North America, Europe, and Asia. They will cover topics from bow hunting to travel and equipment. There will also be a seminar on adventure for the kids. The WSF has given more than $4.6 million last year to wild sheep conservation and other mission programs. This is thanks to the convention success and member donations. In the last three years, they’ve put more than $13.4 million to programs that benefit wild sheep and their habitat around the world. This year the WSF expects more than 10,000 wild sheep conservationists to attend and to raise more than $6 million.
The convention is Jan. 19-21 at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center. Show hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Thursday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday. Admission costs $15 per person. There are $5 off coupons available at Cabela’s, Scheels, Scolari’s Food and Drug, Mark Fore & Strike, and Sportsman’s Warehouse stores. Paid attendees will be entered for floor credit drawings from $1,000-$5,000 so there’s a chance to win each day.
