Hunsberger Elementary

Ted Hunsberger Elementary school is a Washoe County public school and the recipient of the National Blue Ribbon Schools Award. They are a High Achieving School based on the status of proficiency on state exams and the school is recognized with 5 star Blue Ribbon status based on scoring, student growth, shared accountability and a focus on learning outcomes. A love of learning is nurtured through research-based instruction, project-based learning and technology. The Huskies demonstrate personal responsibility by creating a safe, respectful community for all. The school continues to reduce achievement gaps while ensuring students make growth to keep up, move up and catch up to grade level standards. Students’ success at Hunsberger means high expectations for all and the community is dedicated to maximizing student academic and social growth through rigorous differentiated instruction, as defined by Common Core State Standards.

Mountain View Montessori

The Mountain View Montessori School offers primary and elementary classes. They have created a community within a prepared environment to encourage children to develop a lifelong love of learning. Their mission is described as one that nurtures the self-construction of individuals who will be able to define themselves, think objectively, make independent decisions and live a vital life. They follow the guidelines of the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) and respect, educate and serve a diversity of families.

Sage ridge

Sage Ridge School (includes High School)

Sage Ridge is a private college preparatory school that uses their mission and pillars to define and guide a child’s experience. They are Reno’s only non-sectarian, coeducational and college preparatory day school and strive to provide students with world-class educational opportunities. The school is a fully accredited member of the Northwest Association of Independent Schools and is a 501(c) nonprofit organization. The founders set forth the following goals:

Davidson academy

The Davidson Academy of Nevada (includes High School)

The Davidson Academy of Nevada is a free public school for profoundly gifted middle and high school students. Located on the University of Nevada, Reno campus, students attend middle and high school classes at the Academy, and may access university courses for advanced studies. The Academy was established through state legislation and also receives Distributed School Account funding. In addition to the support of the State, the Davidson Academy also enjoys the support of UNR, which recognizes the exceptional learning needs of profoundly gifted students. While grade levels are not designated, Davidson Academy students must meet and/or exceed high school graduation requirements defined by the state of Nevada, as well as participate in state testing to document Annual Yearly Progress (AYP).

Galena High School

Galena High School is a public Washoe County School District school. They base their mission on the objectives that student learning is the chief priority for the school and that children need to be challenged in order to be problem solvers. They believe that students learn in different ways and should be provided with a variety of instructional techniques in a supportive learning environment. The school believes in educating students to become self-directed and responsible citizen and that staff, students, parents and the community share the responsibility for the success of the school as a community of learners.
