Written By: Farah Vitale

For the first time ever, Reno opens a non-gaming brand hotel. The Reno Renaissance Hotel is downtown where the old Siena hotel had shut down in June of 2015. As Northern Nevada becomes less of a gaming destination, the City of Reno wants to emphasize moving to Reno for experiencing the region rather than gambling. They want to raise the standard for hospitality in the city.

The hotel is the only building in Reno over the river with outdoor drinks and dining.

The newly opened 22,000 sq ft hotel is a family-friendly entertainment venue. They offer games of bocce ball, shuffleboard and skee-ball alongside a restaurant and a pair of 50-foot projections screens. The restaurant has a 15-foot outdoor deck that will allow up to 90 diners to eat while suspended above the Truckee River. A rare spot in Reno! The deck also has a wrap-around fire pit that creates a wall of fire between visitors and the river.

The hotel also features an outdoor pool and hot tub as well as exercise facilities. There’s a 10,000 sq ft outdoor recreation area complete with a bar and restaurant offering a buffet-style sushi menu along with an assortment of up to 100 canned beers. More exciting features include 38,200 sq ft of meeting and events space. To top it off, the hotel is pet friendly understanding that pets truly make our experiences better. They are trying to attract a new kind of tourist, one that wants to experience Reno’s culture.
