The Atlantis Casino will hold a Food Drive for the Food Bank of Northern Nevada the entire month of December. The resort and casino will be accepting donations in exchange for special offers and discounts. The offers include restaurants, the casino, Spa, the Fun Center and the gift shop. Barrels will be around the property to collect donations. From 2011 until now, the Atlantis Resort and Casino has donated 22,112 lbs. of food to the food bank. That’s equal to 18,427 meals donated to those in need in the area.

A little goes a long way for the Food Bank.

The Atlantis also held “Stuff-A-Bus” to help out the Salvation Army earlier in November. They parked an Amador Stages Lines Bus outside the casino. People donated to fill the bus with with non-perishable food, new clothes and toy donations. For this upcoming drive, bring in at least 2 cans to receive special discounts throughout the casino. The Atlantis holds this “Holly Jolly Days” food drive every December to help the Food Bank stock up in time for the holidays.

Every year, the food bank serves more than 15.3 million meals for those in need. All food items are inspected for safety and are health inspected. The Food Bank of Northern Nevada started in 1983 and has grown from a small pantry to a nonprofit organization. The Food Bank of Northern Nevada is now apart of Feeding America, nation’s largest hunger-relief organization. They have more than 200 food banks in their network. They are a growing success, providing more than 3.3 billion meals to the entire United States.
