More Flights are Good News for Economy

Written by: Farah Vitale

The Reno-Tahoe International Airport has added a new flight going to Long Beach, California, which is a sign that the region is expanding. It doesn’t seem like a big deal but new air services mean that both business and tourism are growing. Flights are only selected when they are considered necessary and the refurbished Reno-Tahoe Airport is continuing to attract more airlines. The airport will soon add flights to Dallas Love Field and Atlanta, Georgia.

Obtaining new flights isn’t easy.

The Air Service Corporation works with businesses to determine the needs of customers. Many businesses are looking for good air service when they choose where to expand their operations. People need airports to see their customers and suppliers. Divisions need good air service to get back to headquarters and vice versa.

During the last three years, around 25 corporate headquarters have been added to the Reno Tahoe Airport. The addition of flights help attract new companies. With the airport in a higher demand, they can persuade airlines to add more flights. The competition is also pretty tough. The Reno-Tahoe Airport is competing with more than 400 airports when they try to acquire a new airline or new flights. The airport and the entire community has to stand out.

The Reno-Tahoe Airport keeps progressing.

The Reno-Tahoe airport recently won a $20,531,250 grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation. The grant for given for runway rehabilitation. So far, Senator Harry Reid has secured more than $370 million in federal funds for the airport. Senator Reid also announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation awarded the Minden-Tahoe Airport a grant of $834,098. Since travel and tourism keep Nevada growing, these grants are an investment into the states’s economic success.
