Humane Society Marry Fitness & Furry Friends

Written By: Celeste Harper

Nevada Humane Society is the only non-profit, open admission and no kill shelter in the Silver State.  The shelter has come up with fun and clever ways to support their cause while promoting healthy living.

Bunny Yoga

The Humane Society is combining the relaxation and tranquility of yoga with the cuteness of bunnies. This BYOM (bring your own mat) event will be held on Saturdays at 10 am. The class requires a $10 donation, or a donation of CareFresh animal bedding. Space is limited.  For this reason, e-mail Jessica to reserve your spot in this one of a kind class.

2017  Walk for Animals

This August, walk the Sparks Marina to raise money and promote awareness for homeless animals. Enter the raffle for your chance to win a new Toyota Corolla. The drawing will take place August 12th. Pet vendors and food trucks will be at this event.  Leashed and friendly four-legged friends are welcome.

Hiking Buddies

Hiking Buddies is a great program for those who wish to volunteer, but cannot commit to a regular volunteer schedule. To participate in this program create a volunteer profile on Nevada Humane Society’s website. Then attend a two hour orientation, which includes a dog handling course. After training, you are ready to help teach dogs basic social skills as well as burn some much needed energy.
