New Art for the Legislative Building

Written By: Farah Vitale

The Legislative building is featuring art from six artists during the biennial session. This has been a tradition since 1985 to showcase Nevada’s diverse art scene. The series opened with illustrations by Lisa Kurt on Feb. 6 and will run through the 24th. From Feb. 27-March 17, photography by Christopher Tsouras of Henderson will be on display. After that, it will be mixed media by Jen Graham of Reno March 20-April 7, then paintings by Kathryn Grider of Spring Creek April 10-28 and mixed media by Myranda Bair of Las Vegas May 1-19.

Nevada Arts Council’s Legislative eXhibition Series has been a success.

It features photography, paintings, mixed media pieces from artists across the state. The Art Services Program of the Nevada Arts Council managed the LXS Gallery. So head inside and it’s located on the first floor of the floor of the Legislative Building, 401 S. Carson St., across the hall from the Caucus Deli. This exciting series is another way to connect the people to art and culture in the state.

The Nevada Arts Council is a division of the Department of Tourism and Cultural Affairs since 1967. The state agency is in charge of state and national funds support cultural activity and encouraging people to get involved in the arts throughout Nevada. The state of Nevada, the National Endowment for the Arts, and other public and private sources fund the programs and series. The  LXS is open to the public, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
