Drones Make Successful Deliveries in Reno

Written By: Farah Vitale

Drones are the future!

Flirtey, a local business that builds drones, delivered 77 shipments around Reno in Nov 2016. Reno was also the location for the first ever drone customer order during July 2016. Both of these breakthroughs put Flirtey ahead of drone rivals Amazon and Google’s parent company Alphabet. The Federal Aviation Administration only has a few drone test sites, which includes Nevada. In October, UNR and NASA ran a test for managing drone traffic in a commercial space. More advancements are being made every day and the results are amazing.

Drone delivery is safe, personal, efficient and will be in demand for companies.

7-Eleven was a partner in the drone orders during November. People ordered pizza, Slurpees and even had drone parties for their kids. It took about 10 minutes for the items to show up. This was the first time for drone drop offs in a populated and busy area. Customers used an app to place their orders. They could also view items for delivery as well as the times for loading, departure and arrival of the packages.

Domino’s Pizza made their first drone pizza delivery in New Zealand during August of 2016. Store to door delivery  now be much more convenient thanks to the success of drones. Flirety is working on more than just food, but also first aid and medicine delivery. The drone speed would forever change the timing and how people receive medical help. You can legally fly drones commercially in a growing number of countries. The laws and regulations are still in progress.
